PostSubject: BC2 Beta - Good and Bad   Fri Nov 20, 2009 5:54 pm

This is my review of the current stage of the Bad Company 2 Beta. Remember, these are my opinions of the BETA, not of the actual GAME, which I am still very excited about.

The Good:

Realism - The realism of this game is absolutely amazing. They've greatly improved the realism of bullet damage in this game, meaning that it takes less bullets to kill people. As you may have noticed, the SMG clip was reduced to 20 rounds, which is the real clip size of that weapon, unlike BC1 where SMG's had 60 round clips.

Sniping - The new way of sniping is great in my opinion. I like the fact that you can scope in, shoot, and then stay scoped in until you scope out and then you automatically reload(?) your rifle. Plus, being able to see blood spurt out of your target's head when you hit them is very gratifying.

Destruction 2.0 - The destruction is not as great as I expected it to be, but it is still cool to be able to level buildings.

Sites - Unlike Bad Company 1 and 1943, you now have the ability to use the sites on SMG's.

The Bad:

Graphics - Well of course graphics will be less than perfect in the first phase of the beta. I'm not criticizing it, I'm just mentioning it.

Squad Play - One of the most irritating things of the beta is the fact that we are currently unable to squad up with friends. This is a major flaw because we need this feature to be able to play as a clan.

Connectivity - Definitely the most irritating thing for me, is the fact that I have not received a single change in my stats. This is because even when I finish a match and it shows the little cut-scene at the end, it still goes back to the main page saying I lost connection. And since the beta does not have in-game saving, my stats do not get altered at all. -_-

It is the morning and I'm a bit tired, so I can't remember all the good/bad things from the beta. Please feel free to post more good/bad things that I have missed.

I got several emails from people asking how Iu was able to rank up. I didn't check today after disconnecting last night so I have no idea if my rank will still be there when I get in tonight....but here's what I saw and did after each round:

A cut Scene would come up showing my team won or lost...then a screen came up that showed my total points. I pushed the L1 button to go to the next screen asn watched a bar move from left to right on the rank screen addin my points for that round to may rank meter. then I hit L1 agian and repeated the process for each subsequent screen.

then I het my "X" button to jump in again. I selected my player type and moved to the right for the various selections. I made sure to select the newest weapon/skill available for each selection.

I don't know if any of this had anything to do with why I was able to rank up....but apparently I was one of the few in my grouping that was able to do it so maybe it did.

I'm glad you were able to rank up. Unfortunately, I disconnect right after the cut scene, before even seeing the point screen. So your method probably wouldn't work for me.

One other thing people were complaining about is changing guns on the fly. since you have to use the D-Pad to change weapons you have to stop moving. I've seen custome controllers that has the buttons and D-Pad both on the right side which would allow you to control both with the right hand....but yu'dhave to buy one of those controllers just for this game.

I think they did that so that they could assign the knife and gernades to quick fire buttons instead of having to change to them as your weapon selection then use them.

Not sure which I prefer...
